Tesla vehicles receive regular over-the-air software updates over the Wi-Fi network, adding new features and improving existing ones. Open the Software tab on the touchscreen to see if a software update is available. When an update is available, a notification is displayed on the center touchscreen and you can choose to install it now or schedule a time to install it later. To ensure the efficiency and stability of software updates, connect your vehicle to Wi-Fi.

When are OTA updates available?
Software updates will continue to be available from time to time, and Tesla will notify you via alerts on the in-vehicle touchscreen and the Tesla app. To check if an update is available, click Control > Software. Your vehicle will check for available updates and display "Checking for Updates ......".
If no updates are available, the touchscreen will display "Your in-vehicle software is up to date".
If an update is available, the touchscreen will display "Update Available". A yellow download icon will also be displayed at the top of the touchscreen.
What is the OTA update process?
Software updates are divided into two phases:
- Download phase: During the download phase, the new update is rolled out OTA and prepared for installation. You can drive your vehicle during this phase, but the download may be interrupted if the vehicle is disconnected from the Wi-Fi connection.
- Installation Phase:: During the installation phase, the downloaded software update will be installed in the vehicle. For safety reasons, do not drive the vehicle during installation. If the charger is plugged in, the vehicle will not be able to charge until the installation is complete.
How do I initiate an OTA update?
- 1. When there is an available software update, you can initiate the update in any of the following ways: Click on the yellow clock icon to display the appointment window. You can choose to install the update immediately or schedule an appointment to install it later. After you set an appointment time for installation, the yellow clock icon will change to a white icon until the installation begins. You can change the time at any time before installation by clicking on the clock icon. Click on Control > Software to check if there is a software update available for your vehicle. If so, click on "Updates available" to jump to the appointment window.
- 2. Initiate the update via the Tesla app: When the download process begins, a green download icon will appear on the touchscreen. If the yellow download icon appears on the touchscreen, a software update is available, but the vehicle is not connected to Wi-Fi. - Please first verify the status of the software update. If the Software Update Complete notification does not appear on the Tesla app and the update has been started for more than 3 hours, see the following procedure.
- Touch screen restart: Press and hold both wheel buttons on the steering wheel (for approximately 20 seconds) until the Tesla "T" logo is displayed on the touch screen.

- Disconnect and delete the device from the vehicle Bluetooth settings screen.
- Delete the vehicle from the device Bluetooth settings.
- Try to re-pair the device with the vehicle.

- 6. How to deal with keyless entry problems after software update? For problems related to vehicle entry, please first check whether the corresponding keyless entry settings have been enabled. If you are using the "phone as car key" function, please make sure that the corresponding phone is shown as the car key in your "phone as car key" settings and that the Tesla application is running in the background. If the problem persists, turn your device's Bluetooth connection on and off. If the problem is still not resolved, please re-pair your phone as car key.
- 7. Why is my driving experience unchanged after the update? Tesla vehicles receive different levels of software updates on a regular basis. Some minor software updates may not have a noticeable impact on the driving experience.
- 8. Can I charge my vehicle while the update is being installed? When installing software via OTA over-the-air updates, the vehicle will stop charging. If a software update is installed while you are charging, your vehicle will stop charging during the update process. Once the update is complete, charging will resume automatically.
