Enjoy more seamless control of your car with Tesla voice commands. Leveraging a natural language processor that helps interpret your request and translate it to an action for your car, voice commands enable you to control certain features without the typical rigid constraints of using specific words or phrases.
Like most features, voice commands will continue to improve over time in both functionality and performance. Note that while the opposite of some commands may not be listed, they may still be available. For example, your car can recognize both "I’m cold" and "I’m hot."
To initiate a voice command for your Model S and Model X, tap the voice button on the upper right side of the steering wheel. On your Model 3 and Model Y, tap the microphone button on the touchscreen or press the right scroll button on your steering wheel. When you hear the tone, speak your command.
Available commands include most features that are managed by the touchscreen with the exception of driving-related commands. For example, you can’t shift between drive modes. If you’re unsure of whether a feature can be controlled with voice commands, we recommend first locating the action within the touchscreen to confirm.
Certain high data usage vehicle features require at least Standard Connectivity, including maps, navigation and voice commands. Access to features that use cellular data and third-party licenses are subject to change.
