In a recent sighting that's piqued the curiosity of pickup enthusiasts, a Tesla Cybertruck and a Ford F-250 found themselves side by side, offering a fresh perspective on the relative sizes of these prominent vehicles in the market.
Taking us back to the early days of the Cybertruck in late 2019, Tesla treated us to a Tug-of-War video, providing a glimpse of the Cybertruck juxtaposed with the Ford F-150. However, subsequent sightings of the Cybertruck alongside other pickups have been relatively scarce. A recent discovery, courtesy of Arthur Nuzzi from the Tesla CyberTruck Facebook Group, has rekindled the comparison by placing the Cybertruck in proximity to the formidable Ford F-250.
For those craving a detailed analysis, the Cybertruck boasts a wheelbase spanning 145 inches, an overall length of 231 inches, and a width of 84 inches, as per measurements shared by Matthew Donegan-Ryan. Although these figures are not definitively confirmed by Tesla, they were gathered using the iPhone Measure app, renowned for its accuracy within a 2-inch margin.
On the other hand, the F-250 featured in the image is the Crew Cab variant, flaunting a wheelbase of 159.7 inches, an overall length stretching 250 inches, and a width of 80 inches.
Worth noting is the Cybertruck's evolutionary journey in terms of size. In 2021, Tesla's CEO Elon Musk disclosed a subtle reduction in its dimensions:
"That's pretty much what it [the Cybertruck] will look like, with very small differences. You know, we adjusted the size a few percent. Like around 3% or smaller. You don't want it to be a couple of inches too big for the tunnel."
This resizing initiative, driven primarily by the Cybertruck's compatibility with Boring Company tunnels, also aligns with the practical goal of ensuring the vehicle doesn't impose upon driveways or parking spaces. Tesla has even incorporated Cybertruck-specific parking spaces into blueprints for future Supercharger locations, demonstrating the brand's meticulous attention to accommodating its unique proportions.
Recent developments have fueled excitement, as the Cybertruck recently made a spirited appearance on the Fremont Factory's test track. Reports suggest that Tesla has embarked on battery endurance testing for this all-electric pickup, further intensifying the anticipation surrounding its impending release.
